In October 2026, our coalition voted on our top five priorities, which were developed over our first year of advocacy. These will be our guide as we work towards a county without hunger.
- Priority 1: Prioritize children in need, AND adults with disabilities, in food assistance programs.
- Priority 2: Expand public education for our members and community (including at the school level) about food insecurity, food systems, and urban agriculture
- Priority 3: Require space allocations for food pantry/small grocer/food distribution/community gardens in neighborhoods across Montgomery County
- Priority 4: Expanding programs for purchasing hot foods and farm fresh foods with SNAP/Sunbucks/Money Market Bridge or other food assistance programs, and with delivery models for vulnerable communities!
- Priority 5: Expand current food systems programs into culturally competent food assistance with a variety of languages, topics, and food availability
